Policy theories suggest that rather than evidence-based, policy can only ever be informed by evidence through effective advocacy. The article draws on the example of Oxfam Great Britain, an experienced and effective advocate of evidence-informed policy change, to describe four ways to increase uptake of research evidence in policy. This approach, in turn, provides transferable lessons for researchers and advocates that are seeking to inform or influence policymaking.
